Another juv Med Gull
Juvenile Med Gull, Broom GP, 26th July 2008 by Steve Blain. Although this looks very similar to the first bird, the head is darker and the patterning on some of the feathers is slightly different, so I think this is a new bird.

Another Juv Med Gull
Juv Med Gull, Broom GP, 24th July 2008 by Steve Blain. A slightly less advanced bird than last nights juvenile. We also found an adult at Broom tonight too, making four individuals in two days!
Med Gulls at Broom GP
Juvenile and second-summer Med Gulls, Broom GP, 23rd July 2008 by Steve Blain. This is just a day later than when we found our first juv Med of the year last year.

A New Breding Bird for Bedfordshire
I popped up to Harrold-Odell CP after work work with the kids today to see if the gypos had done anything. Only a pair with the Greylags in a quick look. But I then spoke to Richard Dowsett, one of the rangers and asked after the Egyptian Geese. He had this rather good photo among others, of a pair with four goslings, the fourth just obscured here behind the nearest adult. There have been varying numbers of Egyptian Geese here over the last couple of years - possibly up to nine. Perhaps two pairs bred on the island here. This was taken on 9th May by Richard. The goslings here are quite young and have not been seen recently so maybe there has been no successful fledging.
