Snowy Garden Visitors in Leighton Buzzard 2nd & 3rd March 2018

Had lots of visitors to the garden over the past couple of days with the cold and snow which has been a bit of a treat with a few garden firsts such as a Reed Bunting and a Grey Wagtail. I wasn't fast enough with the camera for the Grey Waggie unfortunately, i'll get him next time.

Redwing Elms farm Industrial Estate. large numbers of Redwings present but sadly no Waxwings.

Winter Thrushes in Clifton Garden

Here are some of Friday's pictures of the Fieldfare and Mistle Thrush in the garden. One each of a portrait and one of hopefully an evocative winter thrush portrayal! Also a Redwing as taken in the garden on Saturday.

All have been taken through the closed window i.e. through the glass!

Garden apple munchers

Each year I harvest the apples from my garden and store them for a regular food supply for birds through the winter. When the weather gets hard, the winter thrushes regularly drop in. Garden record for Fieldfare broken in the last two days with minimum 87 birds and allowing some photo opportunity from the house while working from home. With all these birds about, some of the regulars are intimidated, spot the Blackcap hiding on the back of the old table in one of the trees.

Five hours spent photographing 100+ fieldfares on fallen apples in a private garden, what a sight seeing so many infront of my hide. Also feeding amongst them were 12+ blackbirds, 3 redwings, a few starlings and a single song thrush. Worth getting cold for.
