Common Crane & Marsh Harrier

The Common Crane pair were still present at Quest pit, but on the far bank. Eventually they flew off west. The female-type Marsh Harrier, seen over the weekend, put in an appearance.

Three raptors watched drifting slowly over Lt. Billington, they were travelling together and at times engaged in gentle sparring . The birds Marsh Harrier, Red Kite and Common Buzzard all appeared to be juveniles.  2/10/08

More of the Marsh Harrier

After Mark Thomas saw this Marsh Harrier go to roost in the washout pit at Willington on the 3rd, I saw it leave the roost at 06:30 the next morning, when these images were taken. It lifted out of the reeds and headed in a direct line north-east along the line of the Ouse, not much more than tree-top height. 4th April 2007 by Steve Blain.
