Thanks to Richard Bashfords recent posts, I have been up to Tempsford a couple of times in the late evening over the past week and have managed to run into Yellowhammer, Corn Bunting, Reed Bunting, Turtle Dove, Quail, Little Owl, Barn Owl, Kestrel, Buzzard e.t.c amongst many other more common species. this is all due to the excellent info and grid references he posted last week. Thanks to Richard its been a real treat and it's not just me who has benefitted from his post.

Cheers Richard

Owl Attack

Watched a Barn Owl flying past with food this evening, knocked from the air by this female Kestrel which was undoubtedly after it's catch. Both birds went to ground and could be heard protesting before the Owl continued.

Active Barn Owl(s)

I was stalking a young male when this came past me - hence snap shot rear view

Thurleigh. Bedfordshire. January 2008.

I visited in the hope of seeing the short eared owls but no luck, but the Hen harrier gave good views a few times, and a group of 3 Grey partridge was a welcome sight. Other birds seen: Common buzzard, stonechat, barn owl, kestrel in good numbers.
