Jack Snipe Octagon Farm

This shot was hand held without scope using flash.

Nice drops of dew on the bird's head.

Jack Snipe 22 December Octagon Farm

Not a bad effort for an old point and shoot compact camera. Mind you, anyone can get a good shot of a Jack Snipe - the trick is seeing them before they fly - only my second time ever I've managed this.

Willington Spotted Redshank

Steve B and I took a trip to Octagon Farm this lunchtime and were pleased to find this beastie wandering around. Full credit to Steve who only had bins and picked this out while I was scanning the area with my scope. "That's not a Spotted Redshank is it......no."
"Where're you looking? Got you, no, don't think so... Hold on a minute!"

Wonderful! This bird looked pretty much winter plumed but you can see the start of black on the belly. This photo is a video grab so not too hot, but hey! Also present, two Dunlin, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, Ringed and LR Plover, Redshank, Shelduck and Shoveler.
