Dunstable Sewage Works
Had an hour to spare this afternoon so popped into the sewage works to see what was about. It was all rather dull and grey but the now long staying Black-necked Grebe was still on site on number 3 along with 2 Little Grebes, there were plenty of Teal and some very handsome Gadwall. Other species seen on site today, Pochard, Mallard, Coot, Moorehen, Water Rail, Heron, Little Egret, Canada Goose, Mute Swan, Shelduck, Cormorant, Black Headed Gull, Kingfisher, Buzzard, Sparrowhawk, Wren, Great and Blue Tit, Dunnock, Blackbird, Song Thrush and last but not least a lovely Stonechat.

Ravens and Black-necked Grebe - MVCP
Martin Palmer's photos of the two Black-necked Grebes and one of the two Ravens at Stewartby Lake today.
MVCP - Ravens & Black-necked Grebes
A couple of photos of the two Balck-necked Grebes that were near the lagoon corner of Stewartby Lake today. Whilst Martin Palmer and I were watching the grebes Martin heard a Raven calling and two flew over us. I was very pleased to see, and (badly...) photograph, these as they were a site tick for me... The last site tick I had was Spoonbill in September 2011. Photos by Martin Green.

Easter Bonanza !
A great day in the Marston Vale !
Two Black-necked Grebe and a Red-breasted Merganser at Stewartby Lake.

Garganey at the Long Pool, MVCP.

One of three Arctic Tern at Chimney Corner North. No sign of Sandwich Tern; MJP picked out a Black-tailed Godwit.

On any other day, finding an Osprey would be a notable event - not this day, however !

A Willow Warbler at MVCP

Thanks to the finders !!

Black-necked Grebe at Wyboston

My second Black-necked Grebe found on a Wyboston WeBS count in as many years. It actually flew in as I was doing the count. This is a juvenile bird. Had me scratching my head for a bit as it seems to show some features of Slavonian. On some of my out of focus shots - of which there are many, the head shape is more Slav than BNG.
