Potton Sparrowhawk - 04/04/2014

Just finished reading the quick notes manual of my new camera, received earlier in the day, when I looked out of the patio window to try a few shots and saw this beauty sitting on our garden fence. Hope to improve technique with time after learning about RAW and other camera settings!

Erythristic Chaffinch

A erythristic Chaffinch, Potton, 9th March 2014 - images by Colin Campbell and Sharolyn Parnham. Erythrism is where the red or chestnut pigment replaces other pigments and is a rare abnormality.

Potton back garden birds in the frost and snow

Fieldfare which seems to have taken up residence in the hoarfrost of our back garden hedge.  Am I alone in thinking that there is a large number of "lone" Fieldfares about at the moment?

Bullfinch in the snow today.  Poor quality photo but posted purely because it is the first time I have been able to capture one (digitally) in our back garden - having witnessed fewer than a dozen or so in our thirty years here.

Dearth of House Sparrows? Confirmed breeding?

Sorry about the poor technical quality - dull day, taken through patio windows (dirty), hand-held, high ISO number!

Pale Collared Dove

Any ideas on this bird? I think it is the palest Collared Dove I have ever seen. Obviously not albino, but would those who know more than I do describe it as leucistic, or is it within normal ranges?

Potton garden Fieldfare - Friday 07/02/2009

Yes, I know that I posted a photo of what could be the same bird yesterday, but I couldn't resist these from today. The clear sky and improved light meant a much improved end product.

Little Owl opposite Everton Road allotments, Potton - 13/06/2008

Rather distant photo. Seen regularly over past three weeks, but no evidence of second bird for breeding purposes!
