Tempsford Spotted Flycatchers

I popped into Tempsford today to try and catch up with the Spotted Flycatches. I think there are currently 2 pairs on site, one pair in the Churchyard the other in the old Rectory and had a lovely couple of hours just sitting and watching this afternoon in the sunshine. Great to see these lovely but increasingly rare birds in the county return again for hopefully another successful year.

UPDATE

I returned to site yesterday 22-06-2019 and could only see evidence of 1 pair on site, the pair that had been nesting in the Yew Tree at the entrance to the Churchyard seem to have disappeared.

I popped over to Church End Tempsford yesterday afternoon and bumped into the pair of Spotted Flycatchers on site. Great to see them back again in 2017.

Added note returned today Monday 29th May and found the pair of adults feeding at least 3 fledged spott flies, so first brood are now out of the nest.

I popped in quickly to Tempsford Church Yard this afternoon after a trip to Lakenheath to see the Little Bittern and am happy to report the pair of Spotted Flycatchers on site and seemingly thriving. Both birds were a bit frisky so little babies may be on the way shortly.

 A walk around DWE on the 12th Sept, turned up a Spotted Flycatcher,the first I've seen here, and a obliging Chiffchaff.
