The name 'Channel' Wagtail is a colloquial term for what's thought to be a Blue-headed/Yellow Wagtail hybrid (flava x flavissima).
This fellow was in a bean field north of Eggington. The distant record shots have been magnified to allow closer scrutiny of the plumage. As for the post title - I chiant-imagine a worse pun ...
This Little Egret was fishing in the pond in front of the MVCP cafe. Found by Paul Wright, photographed by Martin Green - I was too distracted by a chocolate muffin to notice anything as inconspicuous as this land in front of me... :-)
Now, photography doesn't get much better than this... This (nearly), very obliging bird was about 1.5 miles from my house, singing from the first place I stopped - north of Wyboston village. Fantastic!
Any ideas on this bird? I think it is the palest Collared Dove I have ever seen. Obviously not albino, but would those who know more than I do describe it as leucistic, or is it within normal ranges?
