Kumlien's Gull

Second-winter Kumlien's Gull, Stewartby Lake, 2nd April 2009. This bird was in Beds from 31st March until 4th April. A good summary of where else this bird appeared can be found here.

No idea

At first, this looked like a strange female Tufted Duck. I got closer and it looked a bit like a Scaup crossed with a juv Common Scoter. No wing bar, bill longer and thinner than Tufted Duck, about the same size.

Stewartby Sewage Works.

This Grey wagtail was showing well, on the friday 3rd april, on the sewage tanks along with around four Pied wagtails. Also feeding over the tanks were 30+ Swallows and a few Sand martins.

Black Vulture over the Lodge

This is the little one - the American Black Vulture rather than the European one - even so, a bit bigger than the Jackdaws chasing it.
