Willington. 3rd August 2009.

I spent a couple of hours at Willington, first thing, getting back into the swing of things after a lengthy lay off. A few common terns present and a few green sandpipers.

There were quite a few young goldfinches around and what seemed to be good numbers of green woodpecker. Plenty of butterflies everywhere and on the way back to the car at least 2 young wrens clambering around waiting for the parents to feed them.

Ruddy Shelduck

A pair arrived at DSTW today, having spent some time at Wilstone Res.

Common Tern

Four juvenile Common Terns arrived at Duns. STW on 17/07/09, and are still there today 3/08/09. they are from the colour ring scheme at College Lake /Wilstone Res.

Loads of Yellow-legged Gulls

24 of the 48 Yellow-legged Gulls in Quest pit this afternoon. 1st August 2009.

Med. Gull

Juv. Med. Gull at Grovebury this morning, very unsettled, stayed for 20 mins. before flying off west on its own at 11.20. 1/08/09

Another Blackwit

The most recent of a good passage of icelandica Black-tailed Godwits through the county. Derek Whites Eggs pit, 6th July 2009.
