All the Turtle Dove records submitted to the Beds Bird Club for 2011 are the red squares in the map above. They are disappearing fast with even fewer records so far in 2012 (the blue squares). If you are lucky enough to find one in the county PLEASE send in the record. It is really easy to do - just fill in the form found HERE (or, even better, use BirdTrack).  Also consider supporting Operation Turtle Dove to help save this beautiful species from extinction in the UK.

Interesting Lesser Redpoll

These Lesser Redpolls were at Coopers Hill, Apmthill, 20th May 2012, and were photographed by Neil Wright.  One bird has an interesting abberant plumage, having an orange, rather than red, poll.

Nightjar

This migrant Nightjar was seen near Polloxhill on 13th May 2012.  These images were taken with a camera-phone!  Many thanks to Peter Guinn for his permisson to use them on this blog.
