Tempsford Spotted Flycatchers

I popped into Tempsford today to try and catch up with the Spotted Flycatches. I think there are currently 2 pairs on site, one pair in the Churchyard the other in the old Rectory and had a lovely couple of hours just sitting and watching this afternoon in the sunshine. Great to see these lovely but increasingly rare birds in the county return again for hopefully another successful year.

UPDATE

I returned to site yesterday 22-06-2019 and could only see evidence of 1 pair on site, the pair that had been nesting in the Yew Tree at the entrance to the Churchyard seem to have disappeared.

Pegsdon Firecrest

Only one image I cold get as it was typically very mobile and all other images are either completely out of focus or do not actually have the bird in the frame ! At least you can see the white eyestripe.

Yellow Wagtail

The New Housing Estate Sandhills in Leighton Buzzard has a surface water Swale/Lake associated with it which is starting to bring in some lovely wildlife, currently it is swarming with Sand & House Martins and has a pair of nesting Mute Swans and many Wagtails including this lovely male Yellow Wagtail which seems to be part of a breeding pair on the site :-)

Stewartby Nightingale

Spring has definitely sprung when the Nightingales arrive and are in full song.

leucistic Grey Heron

This very pale bird seen in the south of the county on Saturday afternoon. Was a long way away...

Great Northern Divers Stewartby

I finally after many attempts over the past few weeks got to see and photograph the pair of long staying Great Northern Divers at Stewartby, luckily they were also quite close to shore :-)
