Bev's. 23rd January.

 A walk around Bev's (DWE), turned up 4 Lesser Redpolls feeding around the main lake, 2 Egyptian geese but no sign of any White fronts'. And a nicely posed Mistle thrush with a snowy backdrop.

Fieldfare

A few Fieldfare in the garden this week - this one had a gammy right leg.

Gyr type Falcon

David Asquith sent thought these photos of a/the Gyr type hybrid Falcon which he saw today around the Swiss Cottages area, between Barton Hill Farm and Warden and Galley Hills.20th January 2013.  A striking bird!

Leighton Buzzard Garden today 18-01-2013

On a very snowy day in Leighton Buzzard took a few quick shots of the various visitors to the feeders this afternoon. Lots of Fieldfare today with the bad weather, and a male blackcap, I have previously seen the female quite a bit over the past few weeks, but not the male until today. I believe from recent publications that the blackcaps are likely to be non native migrants?

Potton back garden birds in the frost and snow

Fieldfare which seems to have taken up residence in the hoarfrost of our back garden hedge.  Am I alone in thinking that there is a large number of "lone" Fieldfares about at the moment?

 

Bullfinch in the snow today.  Poor quality photo but posted purely because it is the first time I have been able to capture one (digitally) in our back garden - having witnessed fewer than a dozen or so in our thirty years here.

Weather conditions could have been better at the weekend but got a few nice shots in Stockgrove on Saturday and an unusual shot of the Whooper Swans at the Dunstable sewage works on Sunday.
